Introduction -

Tamoxifen is a potent non steroidal anti-estrogen. It is indicated for use in estrogen dependent tumors, i.e. breast cancer. Steroid users take Tamoxifen to prevent the effects of estrogen in the body. This estrogen is most often the result of aromatizing steroids, and we'll explain hereinafter in more details -

Testosterone and most of its derivative are converted naturally in the body to estrogen through an enzyme called aromatase. The conversion of androgens to estrogen has some positive effects on the anabolic environment created in the body, how ever it creates some unwanted side effects such as edema, gynecomastia (enlargement of breast tissue), and female pattern fat distribution, all of which might occur when a man's estrogen levels are too high. Also, these effects can occur when androgen levels are too low, making estrogen the predominant hormone. This can occur when endogenous androgens have been suppressed by the prolonged use of exogenous steroids.

Benefits -

Tamoxifen works by competitively binding to target estrogen sites like those at the breast and the brain. Other family of anti estrogens called AI (Aromatase Inhibitors) have a  different mechanism by which that deactivates the enzyme aromatase, and thus prevents the creation of estrogen from first place.

Results -

Tamoxifen is exceptionally effective as a first aid for esrtogenic side effects, as it immediately occupies the estrogen receptors sites on different tissues and hinder the side effects.
Tamoxifen may be used in advance to prevent these side effects from developing in first place.

Dosage and usage in bodybuilding cycle and PCT, prevent gynecomastia -

The recommended dosage of Tamoxifen is 10-20 mg per day, and should be adjusted according to the individual needs. Usually a dosage of 10mg is sufficient with the usage of up to 500mg/week of testosterone (And other androgen which are converted to estrogen). Higher dosages are required if there is an individual sensitivity to estrogen, or if higher dosage of testosterone is administrated

Side effects -

This drug is not toxic nor have any harsh side effects been seen in athletes who used the drug as an anti-estrogen.
